Buttons or zipper

Hi everyone. I've got someone locally who will be making a jumpsuit for me. I'm going for a Pre-Production V. 2 Fett.
I can't see any buttons on the ref pix of the PP2 suit, so I'm guessing it had a zipper.

Does anyone know for sure? Does it matter for 501st approval?

Another question is were the ankle spats sewn onto the suit or a seperate item that was velcro closed or snapped?

As always, any input is welcome.

:)

The only part of your question I can answer is about the spats. pghfett had pointed out in a different thread at one point-"What about the handling of the costumes pieces over the years. I've seen pics of the ankle spats displayed over the wrists!" So I would assume your attachment method is completely up to you. Whatever works, works.

Hiya Hunter,

We make our flightsuit with a two way zipper. From what I can see from the various reference pics, the screen used suit had a zipper. Others vendors use buttons and I have seen the flightsuit with buttons 501st approved. I do not think you will have any problems with either method.

I make the spats with velcro and from what I have seen from spat ref pics, it has velcro as well, but again as well stated above, that will probably not be a make or break point for 501st approval.

Although some people want to have every seam and every wrinkle as close as possible to the actual screen caps, so are very concerned with every detail.

You can contact your local 501st to get the specific requirements. Some local garrison's do vary a bit in what they consider mandatory and what is open for interpretation.

I hope this helps some.
