    Building my own Boba Boots...

Okay so they may not be entierly canon but I can't pay 100 bucks for shoes right now. I got these and will be building my own pair up. What do you think for a base to work with?

Found them at The Bay that should not be Spoken...20.00.

I figure I'll paint them up and weather them, add the toe spikes and see how they turn out. Will post progress as I go along.

Now where to find the toe spikes?

you're going to have to pry the heels off those. and make the soles white.

Re: Building my own Boba Boots...

Got these boots in the mail yesterday...they are pretty cool and after looking at them real close and comparing them to screenies of the actual boots I think I can pull it off making them look pretty good. First step will be to work on the soles a little bit...not flat enough...Nasty might be right, pry one of the heel layers off.

Then a little rubbing with sand paper to ruff them up to look like cloth a bit instead of leather. Some primer, paint, and trim and the toe spikes and I think I can get away with it.

What should I use for the metal attaching point at the toe for the spikes?

You can try filling the space between the heel and sole with foam from an old sandal. Goop works great. This is my old thread. I will update at some point so you can see the completed shoe.

What can I use to fill in that gap to make the sole one piece? I like your idea clonecollector but what about some kinda moldable bondo or something???

Those are the same boots that I used for mine. As far as filling in the gap, if you are going that route, Two words: "Shoe Goo"

It is used for filling in shoe soles and its pretty durable for what its worth. You can get it at the hardware store or at Wally world for about $5.

Shoe Goo....I'm going to Wal-Mart tonight so I'll look for it. Thanks!

I sanded them down this evening to give them a more cloth look...they look better. I also need to find some black pipping.

Re: Building my own Boba Boots...

I sanded the lether down a little this afternoon using my dremel and some sandpaper to give it a cloth look and I also took the leather peices of the sides to give it a better "one piece" look. Have to use a little shoe goo to reconnect some of the leather pieces together that came apart when the dremel sander ate the stiching up.

Do you guys think it is worth filling the gap or just trying to pull that heel and try to flatten everything out on the bottom?

I'm afraid if I do that then the toe will stick up to high, look like clown shoes? LOL.

I think the toe would stick up too high. It wouldnt be accurate but I would leave the bottoms as is. It has kind of a rugged military look.

Re: Building my own Boba Boots...

So here are the updated pics of my progress thus far...

I filled in the gap with steel putty, the kind you use to fix holes in stuff, and it worked pretty good...it's hard as a rock and not going anywhere. I sanded it down and primed the first coat. I have to find the right color of grey for the final color and have the white for the soles ready to go. Have toe spikes on order and have to find something to use for the pipping.

Here is an update, painted the soles white and sprayed some light gray for the rest of the boot. Overspray will all be touched up when I weather the boots. Going to paint the elastic black and the front black stripe here soon....also have to get the pipping for the lines. Looking good I think?
