Brief question about neck seal

Does anyone have a decent template or pattern for the neck seal, or is it something I'm more or less going to have to play by ear? With past experience in the tailoring field, it wouldn't be hard for me to whip something up, but I wanted to make sure if I could or couldn't save myself some time first.
Also, what sort of material is said neck seal made of? Thanks for any solutions!

Oh, and Happy New Year, everyone!

Tackle twill is what you seek to be accurate, just like the vest. I would suggest practing making a couple with cheap stuff like muslin first, get your pattern down. Its pretty easy, Just measure your neck, give a little room for overlap. Get a good height, probably 4-5 inches. Cut a rectangle with the dimensions, stuff it, sew the coils. It should go pretty easy, especially if you have a little experience.

Thanks! I guess that was a bit of a blunt question to ask, its just that having personal access to the opinions of all of these great artisans here at TDH, being a newb is quite formidable (and so is refining the search tool technique ).

I was unable do do a search this morning. My internet is VERY slow and it froze up.
There is a great set of pics by Bobamaker about his neckseal details. It is pretty simple as far as sewing techniques go. If I can get a link later, I will post it.
You can get tackle twill at Websters
Twillusa.com has tackle twill also, but the color is not as good as Websters.

Here is a link to Websters... http://www.websterfabric.com/products/polyPro.html
You need the uncoated poly twill. You would probably want to contact them for color samples. I don't remember what the best color is. The minimum purchase is 5 yards. You could make several neckseals with that much fabric, so you might want to make a run. I am sure plenty of people would want one. I have some cream color tackle twill from Twillusa.com. If you may want to buy just a small amount for a neckseal, please pm me. I could send a color sample of what I have. There is alot of debate about color and IMHO it is best if you get a good look at the color to make sure it is what "you" want. It is a very debated question. The search takes along time, but if you want the absolute best info, try it. By searching you will get many opinions, some correct, some not so correct, but you can make the best decision for yourself. There is much about this that is objective. If you have sewing experience, making this will be simple. PM me or email me I can help at all.... debbi@ladysewforus.com

Now I remember, here are the color choices and greyish is the color that has been most desired... http://www.websterfabric.com/colorChart.html

sorry about the double post, my computer is really acting up this morning.

One more suggestion, you may want to contact Batninja. If you decide to buy 5 yards, he may want to purchase some of it from you. Or, other people may be interested in buying some, because they do not want to buy 5 yards.

Thanks a bundle! This really helps out a lot. I couldn't find any bulk purveyors of tackle twill anywhere, and for accuracy's sake, it looks like I'll be buying some. Now the idea you mentioned of making a run of neck seals to sell is both interesting and intriguing, and really all depends on the mock-up that I'll be making out of some generic cotton twill soon. I'll post the results on here, and if its met with any interest, I may buy the fabric and make a few for those interested.
If not, Wolfie, I'll PM you about the details of splitting the cost of five yards if you're still interested.(y)
