General Brand new and looking for advice.

Hi there folks! After a great weekend at Fan Expo Vancouver, I have been thinking about putting together a 501st approved Boba Fett costume. I want it to be pretty awesome and would prefer to build it piece by piece to ensure quality wont be compromised. I literally have no idea where or how to start. So I came to the best resource of the mighty internets! Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

Hey and welcome!

First question you'll be asked around here is which version of Fett you want to do. There's the different pre-production Fetts, the ever so sleek ESB Fett and the iconic ROTJ Fett. Then you'll want to decided whether you want to do the paintwork yourself or possibly commission someone else to do it.

For helmets there are ASOK, Bobamaker, FettPride and many others but those are three that popped into my head first. ASOK makes cold cast helmets that are very popular (I have one and absolutely love it.).

Bobamaker can actually make you a Fett suit from head to toe but you'll be waiting until 2014 to get it. Make sure to keep an eye out for different runs on the more rare parts (i.e. Pre-Pro 2 gloves, ESB sidearm, etc.) Also do your research!! There are so many users here full of wisdom so make sure to consult them before making any purchases.

OH, and stay away from Rubie's "Supreme" Boba Fett costume or Star Fortress Productions.

Read read read and then read some more. Just bouncing around TDH will raise more questions than answers at first, but as those questions come up use the search bar and you'll learn more than you ever wanted. That said, I was in your shoes 6 months ago, so feel free to PM me anytime.

Thanks for asking this, SpaceCowboy. I have been trying to find out the best path to take myself. I am no stranger to prop forums. I troll around on the gbfans forum and have built a Proton Pack. Trying to decipher which parts are which is overwhelming for sure.

I think I'll follow Wes7's build thread for advice. His is looking awesome. Speaking of, Wes7, does your buddy paint helmets on commission? I love the way yours turned out.

Wow really appreciate that! If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Regarding the paint job, however, PM where you live and I'll ask.

Wes7 is definitely a helpful guy, and many of the people here will give you tips and help at every turn. I would definitely read as many threads as you can, learn from others mistakes and triumphs... and go at your own pace. You can't lose if you do your homework and you come at it with passion. Best of luck to you on your journey to Fett!

And if you have any major questions, just post them here and any of us will help out. :cheers
