BooBoo Fett Ammo Belts - Color Chase

Hello all.

Staring a new thread to help with color of ammo belt.
For the back story see:
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=34906

Made a trip to Tandy today to try and nail down a color. I took along my Mac Book to be able to match samples against photos of original. Not real happy with what I left with. Anyone know of a non oil-base dye in the correct color?

Need your opinions of the test color.

What color does Taco use for the ESB variety?

Using a pic from Cr4nky's for sale thread and will remove if he would prefer.

This shows a color that is closer to the ROTJ in my opinion. You can see a little of the red coming through.

I have no idea where the thought the toffee color was correct for ROTJ, but I've seen a lot of those out there, including the one I currently have unfortunately. Darkened it a bit with oil and polish but still not 100% happy.

Here's a pic of the real deal.

Also, I believe the ROTJ and ESB belts are basically the same brown. Some SE pics show additional ammo pouches, one with a snap, which would be from ESB, and it matches the others just fine. Definitely not toffee colored.

Hey Shelby, thanks for your thoughts.

Tacos uses oil-based dyes, not available in California. I agree with you, I think the ESB and ROTJ belts are the same color. Also, I think the belt and pouched are the same color. Yea, the toffee seemed strange to me. My Taco belt has dark brown on the belt and light brown (toffee) on the pouches.

I am going to make a belt for myself today and dye it the color of the sample above. I want to see the color in mass and it will be good practice. Plus, this leather wokring stuff is just palin fun!

Actually it's a fudge brown, not a "fudage" brown :D

I did try the colors you mentioned and they didn't look right either. I am about half way through my belt now. Gonna take a break for trapeze practice, then fish up later on so I can post some pics.

:cheers

Well with all the days distractions, did get to finish MY belt. Here a a couple of the pouches dyed with the new color. May not be exact, but I am liking it. And if you look closely, you'll notice I changed to design again to get closer to a screen accurate look.

So, again... let me know your thoughts and opinions. I think we are getting closer.

:cheers :cheers :cheers

By the way, the last two pics taken with flash. Lightened up the color a bit.

PS: If you really do runs for the belts please be sure to make one PP1 belt. I looked at the gallery pp1 pictures and noticed the pp1 belt to have pouches on the backside ... :)
