    BobaFettish's Accurate Vest Material

Since the demand is high for accurate vest material AND we now have a member who has basically perfected the vest pattern, I will take pre-paid orders for the material. This thread will serve as the official sign-up list, so don't PM me with you order.

The cut-off to submit payment to me will be Sunday, April 30th. On Monday, May 1st, I will place the order. Based on past orders, I should have the material within a week. I will make a post when it arrives. It will take me a few days to measure and cut it, but I will mail out orders daily in the order payment was received.

Here are my recommendations as how much material to order. For an average-sized person, 2.5 yards is sufficient to make one vest with enough left over to make a neckseal (it is my opinion that the neckseal is made of the same material, except the opposite side of it). If you are a really big Fett, 3 yards wouldn't be a bad idea (better too much than too little).

Cost: $16.00 (US) per yard, the same as the last three runs which includes shipping one of these heavy rolls and covers my PayPal fees.

Shipping: $6.30 will get you USPS Priority Mail delivery (for up to 3 yards) along with a tracking number. Add an extra $1.30 if you want it insured. For those of you outside of the U.S., I will ship it via Air Mail for the same cost. If you are buying more than 3 yards, add $1.00 for every extra yard (example: 5 yards would be $8.30, $9.60 if you wanted it insured).

Payment options: http://www.PayPal.com via bloodfin@gmail.com or money order via snail mail. PM me for my mailing address. Be sure to include both your TDH screen name and real name along with your complete mailing address in the note section.

If you have never made a vest before, I would HIGHLY recommend not using this fabric to test your skills. Buy some cheap cloth, work out the kinks, and then use this stuff when you are pleased with the results. From what I have seen (and can personally attest to), batninja is the man to see about making your vest. I can ship your material directly to him and save you from having to reship it to him yourself. If you want your fabric shipped to him, MAKE SURE YOU TELL ME or I will mail it to you.

Any questions? Post them here as someone else is probably wondering the same thing.

Re: BobaFettish's Accurate Vest Material Sign-Up List

Here is a simplied breakdown of how much to send:

    2.5 yards including S&H = $46.30 ($47.60 if you want it insured)

    3 yards including S&H = $54.30 ($55.60 if you want it insured)

Anything over those amounts just add $17.00 per yard (which includes the additional shipping).

I am wondering the same thing. From what I have seen, it appears like the material is different, like the ESB doesn't have that "shine" to it...but as I said, I am not sure, at all. I would REALLY appreciate it if someone clarified this for me.

Re: BobaFettish's Accurate Vest Material Sign-Up List

As BobaFettish mentioned, I would be happy to sew these vests once the material comes in. I'm charging $50 per vest, shipping included back to you. I will also include enough material for a neckseal or two. I only accept PayPal.

I apologize, but at this time, I do not produce neckseals. See TK409 for his outstanding neckseals. I highly recommend them!

I offer these vests in three basic sizes: M (38-40), L (42-44), and XL (46-48 ). In other words, if you wear a Large T-shirt, then a Large vest should fit you fine. I’m using 1 ½” Velcro for the closure, so there is plenty of ‘wiggle’ room for individual size adjustment.

The liner is made of a standard bottom-weight fabric, usually white or grey, depending on whatever I have available. The sleeves are quilted with 3/4" stitch lines, and the front side of the vest is padded.

I do not add strap-holes or Velcro to the vest, as many people have different preferred attachment methods. These alterations can be done by most any local seamstress or alterations shop. There is, however, an open section at the bottom of the vest (in the back) for your lower jet pack attachment point.

For more info, pictures and testimonials, see this thread:

    http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/sh...ad.php?t=11609

PM me for ordering and PayPal information!

I will start a Sewing Services sign-up once BF starts accepting orders.

There are no super hi-res photos of the ESB suit (that I have seen anyway) in which you can magnify the image to prove that the RotJ and ESB vests aren't the same material. Tackletwill is shiner on one side than the other. It could be possible that the ESB vest was the duller side, the same as the neckseal. I cannot say yes or no for sure. But here is why I think that both films used the same material; the jumpsuit. There are pics floating around that show that the RotJ jumpsuit was blue, but faded to the soft gray we see now, likely that of either the pre-pro suit or possibly one of the ESB suits.

If anyone can dispell this, please post the pics.

::Edit:: By the way, these are extremely magnified pics of the fabrics for the purpose of comparing the fiber pattern and details.

The cut-off is in two and half weeks (April 30th). I am not limited as to how much I can buy, just how much I can pay for.

Re: BobaFettish's Accurate Vest Material Sign-Up List

No problem. This is the fourth year in a row that it has been offered. Rogue Studios and I did the first run of it, and I have done it the past three.

As a reminder to those sitting on the fence, I only do one run of this per year as it is only produced twice a year and I have to place a pretty stiff minimum order to get it.

    My RotJ vest, weathered.

    My batninja vest, unweathered.

Both pics were taken in the same room only a few feet apart, yet look at the lighting difference.

Jango's Kid's vest is made out of this material for his ESB Fett.

Re: BobaFettish's Accurate Vest Material Sign-Up List

Yeah, its a bit too shiny without weathering, but after some misting of greys & blacks with an airbrush, then hitting it with dull coat, it turned out perfectly. Although I do beleive that the ESB vest is slightly more grey than the ROTJ vest, I'm convinced this stuff is the correct fabric to use....just gotta weather it plenty. Below are before & after pics. In the first pic, my vest is only very lightly weathered, in the second pic, it is weathered heavily with an airbrush as I described. My neckseal is the same fabric with very little weathering, so you can see the difference that the weathering makes...takes the shine right out of it. Hope that helps guys BTW: thanx everybody who gave me weathering advice on this

I dulled mine up with misting taupe (dark tan), gray and black spray paint. The real clincher is to then hit it will Dull Cote which knocks a lot of the 'shine' out of it.

Yes, it is still available. All the details, including the cut-off date to submit payment, is in my first post.

If one were to make a vest with this material, and then COMBINE it with the TK409 Neckseal? Would the neckseal not match and look completely out of place?

I can't answer that. My neckseal is made out of this material (the flipside of it), so texture-wise they are slightly different.

You've already stated this, and you can see in the posts above that once the vest is weathered properly, it's not too shiny at all. It's obvious you don't like the material, or agree with its level of accuracy, but please don't post negative comments just to deter others from ordering.

Re: BobaFettish's Accurate Vest Material Sign-Up List

Regarding the accuracy of my vest patterns...

I've been getting PMs asking 'how accurate is your pattern'?

I designed these patterns with a couple changes from the movie, since the majority of us actually wear the costume, as opposed to simply displaying it on a mannequin. Here are the differences, and the reasons, that I've made a few changes.

    1. "Only three sizes?" Yes, I only produce three pattern sizes. I do not offer custom fits, basically because I would have to craft a separate pattern for each individual. And I'm not a professional pattern-maker. Also, the patterns are sized to be a little big. Remember, this has to be worn over your jumpsuit, harness and chest display.

    2. "The armholes seem too big." Yes, I made this modification so that the wearer would have more range of motion when trooping. Due to the way the sleeve is constructed, making the armhole a little bigger was the most feasible way to add the feature, without compromising the overall look of the vest. I'm not sure if Mr. Bulloch ever complained about this on the original vest, but notice that later in 2002, Jango's vest pattern was modified so that the sleeves are placed higher around the armhole. The sleeve design was also changed so that the sleeves go 'out' instead of 'down'. I would bet the Jango costume is alot more comfy than Boba's.

    3. "Was there a cutout on the original vest?" No, there was not. I made this modification so that the wearer had the option of using the cutout as a third connection point for his jet pack. Regardless, the cutout is somewhat hidden beneath the pack when worn.

    4. "The original vest had thinner Velcro." Yes, it did, but it was only designed to fit one person (or his stunt double). These patterns are designed so that a 'Large' could fit a wider range of body types, simply by positioning the Velcro differently. This prevented me from having to develop more than three patterns.

    And finally...

    5. "Do you make neckseals?" No. Because they're a pain in the neck. Seriously. See TK409 for his neckseals, they're perfect!

I hope this answers alot of questions concerning the vest production. PM me if I missed anything.

If we have the material shipped to you, then what is the cost that we pay you to sew it, since we already paid BF for the material?

    From the man:
The cut-off is in two and half weeks (April 30th). I am not limited as to how much I can buy, just how much I can pay for.

So - get in the money before the 30th of April and you should be good!

If someone only has enough $$ for the material, JUST buy the material and have Batninja sew it LATER. This is something you guys don't want to miss. Pony up or you'll be sorry.

I have to agree, this looks almost too shiny. Before you throw all of your stones at me, I am buying it, because with A LOT of weathering, it could lose a lot of it's shine, and be more ESBish. and BTW, I have that same picture, and fabric doenst look nearly that shiny. I mean, even his jumpsuit looks shiny in this pic.

Ok, well I have major money problems. I am going try this. I will pay BobaFettish for 1.5 yards and make a custom vest (unfortunately cause I have no sewing skill and was going to ask batninja do it)

If I get the money worked out by Sunday, can I add another yard to my order?

Sign me up for 2.5 yards and ship to Batninja.

I'm $10 short in my Paypal account, so I'm waiting on a $$ transfer. I hope it goes thru by Sunday

My dining room will become "Sewing Central" for the next few weeks. It takes about 4 hours per vest, but this has to be scheduled around my day job and other activities (I do some part-time DJ work in the evenings).
I should be able to crank out five or six vests a week...if I don't sleep/eat/etc...

OK, I think I have everyone who has paid marked "paid" now. If you want your material shipped to batninja AND I HAVE NOT MARKED IT THAT WAY IN THE FIRST THREAD, PM me and I will make the edit. If it is already marked that way, you don't need to PM me.

    Thanks
