General Boba Fetts Prototype Armour

Corneliussky

New Hunter
Hi there!
I'm new to this community and all new to costume making :p

When I now decided to make my own boba fett costume, I have spent days looking at reference and lore, trying to decide what look I wanted and what materials to use and so on.

After a long argument with myself, I came to a conclusion, I didn't want a costume that would look just like anyone elses.
So from there I wanted to maybe try and make the prototype costume which was in all white, I actually loved the look the costume had!
(And seeing that I may not have the sufficent time it takes to paint the weathered armour properly it would fit me perfectly :p)

I know that some fans would disagree with me on this one, but I wanted to air my thoughts, and to possibly get a feedback on my choice? :)

Cheers

R

There are quite a few builds of super trooper you can find if you poke around here.
I've never built one, but it's not as easy as it looks and you'll need to track down some parts that aren't widely available here (or anywhere else for that matter) since there is generally less demand.
The paint job on ESB, RoTJ or SE can be fairly forgiving as it's supposed to look worn and damaged. The glossy white for the this armor needs to be near perfect for you to pull it off.
Like any Boba, it can be well done or not.
Check out a recent super trooper by RS Props (I think it was them). It was well done and was purchased as a package.
Good luck and post lots of pics along the way.

I am in the process of building mine. It is actually just a pile of parts currently but it is getting there. There are some parts that are tough to get, but like regular Fett parts, you have to make decisions on what parts you want original/correct versions of and which parts you are ok with copies of. I originally chose to make this version because I liked how it looked and wanted to build one while I worked on my painting skills for a ROTJ version figuring I would save $$ on paint. There are additional costs associated with this version that you don't have on a regular ESB/ROTJ verisons.

Does someone currently make reproductions of the towel Bounty1138? I am in the process of working with a friend who has a printing business to see if I can make them until I can come across a real one ...

I don't know anyone here that does, but that doesn't mean there isn't somebody who make it. It's not something I've looked for.
Most of the builds I've seen include random ebay finds.
Hopefully someone building a super trooper will have a better answer for you.
If you can find an original to work off of, there might be demand here for a run by your buddy. Again, I'm just guessing here.

No problem, just wasn't sure if there was a vendor I have been missing out on lol. I haven't seen one on eBay in the last 6months that I have been looking but it is all about timing. I just ordered another sideshow Fett since the first one I got didn't have the towel ( didn't realize there were 2 versions)... I'm hoping with that, pictures I have saved and a similar towel for color match one can be made

This was the reference photo I was planning on using.
In my point of view it looks a lot like the boba costume, other than its white.
actually I liked the look of the armour alot.
and i was thinking that if i wanted I could make small alterations and do another paint job, and it would be more similar to the boba costume :)
even though I'm new to costume-making, I got extensive experience wih painting and crafting ;)
And my main concern with my costume was the time the painting would take, hence going for a white one ;) gonna try and make this in a limited timeframe :)

You definitely save some time with the painting. I started planning mine out in the beginning of August and got lucky finding some of the gun parts early on, but still need to find some... My armor won't be here till the end of the month ( ordered August 3rd) so that will give me more time to build the rest. Time frame will all depend on how accurate you want it to be .. You can always add to it over time. If you get standard armor you will need to fill in all the dents. I bought new armor since I felt bad buying a used painted set just to paint it white. There are some great reference photos here as well as all the templates that RafalFett has posted.

I was planning on making the armor parts myself from sintra pvc :) i have all the tools at hand, and i am custom with precision work :)
luckily i have a sister-in-law who is a seamstress, and she's gonna help me do alot of the sewing ;)
my first obstacle is to get my hands on some pvc, here in norway it isn't anything you get get over the counter :/

Awesome!! Please post pics of your build as you go along! Maybe you can use the trashcan build method some people use ( buying a white trashcan for material )?
