I can host them if you want!
I can host them if you want!
can't wait to see them!
Hey! Those look pretty cool, bud!
Really cool - nice work!
Holy krap they look great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not too shabby there bud!
So . . tell us more!
Not too shabby, 'eh?
These Fett shoes would require detailed measurements of your feet, tracings of your foot outline, etc.
You'd have to add your own toe spikes.
If we can show the shoe maker a list of people that want the shoes, perhaps, just perhaps we can work out a pricing package.
For now, pricing is less than a pair of MC boots, but still expensive. It's too early in the morning, can't remember the pricing...would like to be snoozing...
awesome shoes man! I'm jealous
Hmmmmm, I don't know about those colors.
Looking good! Is that denim??
Looks good...but I'm not sure if it's just me, or the colors look like if the center piece of the boot is made of "jeans" material??? Don't get me wrong, it looks really nice, and really close to the MC boots. Just for four things, and not necesary about the color and the missing spikes:
-
The black piping stripes are too close from each other, or is it the sole shape. It should look like one of the sides of an Octagon, just cutted in half (someone probably knows of what I'm talking about...there's plenty of smart people around here!) Then, the piping comes from the corners of the "octagon" meeting up to the neck of the boot.

The black "tear drop" elastic should be a little bit narrow, specially in the upper part (that's why they call it a "tear drop")

The boot should go a little bit, at least 2" higher.
Just take this as an improvement critique, not for anything wrong. Like I said before...it's coming out really awesome, though. After all this, it will come up really accurate and meet MC's standards...and most probably adding myself to the ordering list as well.
Man They look great. I think its more of personal taste. Do What YOU want or how You want things done.
A couple more things I see
1. the back need more curve
2. the toe seems to narrow
3. the sole in the front seems a little thin
First off, many thanks to our supermod TD for posting the pics - appreciate it, TD!
A big thanks to all who shared their comments & critiques - much appreciated as well.
Let me answer some questions:
The shoe you see above is "experimental" or rather just seeing what the custom shoe maker could do - yes it could be improved upon, but we're just showing you what the possibilities are.
The shoe is made of "Denim" or "Jeans" material - the light colored portions is the Denim material used inside-out, while the center darker portion is Denim material right side up. The inside is lined with cushioned leather for comfort.
Dyeing or painting is still required to get the shoe to look more movie accurate....and maybe some 'weathering' might help as well.
Yes, it definitely needs spikes - but my shoe maker doesnt make those
I did give him a free reign on designing some parts of the shoe, but like I said its "experimental".
Frankly, I never expected a dead-on accurate shoe from the maker since its his first attempt and also dont know if there would be any guys interested in having one made 'coz of the hassle in measuring your foot & sending that info to me.
But for those inclined to do so, its about $120 + international shipping per custom pair, custom fitted to your own feet
Naturally, dyeing or painting...as well as placing spikes will have to be done by you.
It definitely looks like a good start. Room for improvement certainly, but it's a nice set for the first try. You can always try to unload them and continually have newer pairs made until your manufacturer gets closer to perfection
It's been good to see so many people hand-making or taking new routes for some of the harder parts lately. I'm more inclined to just shell out the money for something, but we've got a lot of do-it-yourselfers lately and it's inspiring and reminds us that these things CAN be gotten on other roads than those most frequently traveled.
Good job, I hope to see it progress,
Not a bad prototype at all!
I know I'd be interested in a pair with the above changes made, especially if they could be made of canvas.
Something about the denim gives them a certain old couch look. Anyway, please keep us posted.
Nothing ventured nothing gained
Here are the boots I just had made by a friend. I have to redo the metal and the spikes and the spats, but you get the idea:
Jango_Fett_Jr: not bad to be a hand-made boot. Good start.
mcallanta: I understand your point, and I completetly understand and everyone as well understands that these are just experimental. No problem. Just keep the good work, cause we have the feeling that just like Princess Leia said about Obi-Wan Kenobi: "...you're our only hope!" And like I said before...I see myself soon ordering one of these as well, which the price is not bad at all!
Naturally, would work more on the boots to get something more accurate for you guys
I'll be doing some experimental painting & weathering on my shoe by next week & will post pics when done. Maybe add some spikes as well.
Will also be looking for a suitable canvas material that I could probably give to the custom shoe maker to see if they could use it.
Will get back to you all on that....
