Boba Fett ROTJ Build / Armor

Hello again.

This would be the second part of my build since I already posted the Helmet Painting Process in another thread.

Not sure if this is the right way to do it so if any MOD feels I need to put everything in one please let me know.

Here it goes!

Armor Maker: RKD

Trim and Clean / The fun Part!

I decided to use buttons to attach the plates to the vest. Here is how.

Sew on buttons, for me they are the best way to do this, the only problem is the amount of time it takes to attach them.

You sew them on to some stripes of cloth and then attach them to the plates.

If you are submitting for 501st approval there are a few issues you are facing with your costume that I experienced with my recent submission

1) It appears your pants are tucked into your boots, they are not to be tucked in.

2) The knee straps are to be weathered, yours are bright white in color. This is the same for your thong.

3) It looks like you might have too much spacing on the bottom of your vest. You are to have between 1/4 inch and 1/2 an inch below the bottom armor piece.

4) The spacing for your armor seems a little close, especially on the upper right breast piece, its literally touching the center diamond.

5) Your pants will need more weathering. It is supposed to be significantly dark at the bottom decreasing in intensity until about the knees.

6) Your girth belt is not long enough. Per the requirements you are allowed 6-8” of space from buckle to buckle (I believe its 6 allowed on top and 8 bottom max).

7) Your flak vest is very white. Did you weather it? I got dinged on mine and had to weather it a bunch more.

8) Your gloves are very white. Did you weather them? I got dinged on mine and had to weather them a bunch more.

9) On your helmet on the ears specifically you are in the same boat I was in. I had to significantly deweather my ears to pass approval. For reference purposes I am including the 501st helmet image below.

To help out some I am including my before and after ear images so you see what I had to overcome (and my weathering was very similar to yours).

Great outfit, and if you get lucky maybe your GML will approve you as you are. I am now at my third submission photo with my GML hitting the CRLs very hard on me.

@DarthOrsan reading your post it looks like the photos are your "test drive", I just did a similiar "dress rehearsal" with my ESB. Looks good for your 1st or 2nd full suit up. It definitely is alot of stuff to put on and place in the proper spots. I have not done as much homework for the ROTJ as ESB, but its looking good from what I know. Congrats on getting your build completed.

Crumdum,

Thank you for the check list! I will addressed these for they seem simple enough. Gloves are really dirty, I think my problem is with the flash, need to take say pictures.

Thanks TAguirre, to test drive it gives you a better perspective on how you are doing.

The flash is definitely hurting your pictures. I thought the whole center section of the jet pack was silver due to the flash. Sunlight photos will help.

I also almost always add that if your weathering doesn't show up in pictures then it is not enough...........remember the weathering we see on the actual kit is seen in pictures.

Be sure to weather all soft parts including knee straps, belly of the flight suit, vest and Boba thong.

You are looking good, almost there.

Your armor pieces are off center to your left side. You can see it in the picture of the snaps on the vest. In your final picture, you can see the left breast plate is touching the edge, but the right is not even close. From the bottom you aren't too far off, maybe just bring it down a little, or have a tailor bring the vest up. Or leave it alone.

Your belt pouches aren't dark enough, or weathered. Here's what I used, courtesy Deathproof. Amazon.com: Meltonian Nu-Life Color Sprays, Russet: Shoes

Also, your gaunt hoses are too long or something and making it look like you have a mean tricep. I would shorten them.

Looking real good! Armor looks reminicant to mine lol, probably cause it's the same RKD armor lol, looks great keep it up.
