What is the best way to attach armor to the vest?

Is velcro the way to go or are snaps better?

Both are viable options, as is bolts through eyelets in the vest. Bobamaker has an awesome tutorial on this around here somewhere.

I use both snaps and velcro on mine, because it can and have been accidently bumped/slipped/ripped off and you want the armor secured. Specifically, the shoulders, use both. Snaps alone leave gaps and velcro, by itself will come off all the time.

You want to also add snaps to your knees, cod, and back plate to your jumpsuit. They will come down after a little time. Or if you don't mind pulling them up ever so often.

I used the industrial velcro(HomeDepot) on my Clone and Fett. The shoulder came off a few times while trooping when I was moving/posing around and got knocked off but it will stick for the most part. But why risk it, especially when there're so many methods to secure the armor.

My experience when it got knocked off or moved was when little kids started grabbing and adults putting there arms around my shoulder. At Cons, people bumped it off because of the crowdedness.

Cr4nky, thx for showing the other post. I remember seeing that a while back but couldn't find it.

Well I believe I can use snaps along with industrial velcro. But I'm not going to get them until after everything for my armor is complete and ready to be attached to. I am thinking of using snaps for the collar, neck, medallian, and ab plates and the industrial velcro will be for my shoulders. Thank goodness my armor wont have a cod plate or knee plates. I am releaved for that LOL!

If your going to use any Velcro, I would advise to use some sort of epoxy or better glue than what comes on the peel and stick types, because after a while of it getting hot and stuff it will start to shift around and leave sticky spots. Also, sew it on where you can. Good luck!

Well velcro will only be in use for the shoulders so that is good enough for me. Plus my armor is going to be made out of cardboard so it is really alright.

Definately go with a combo of industrial strength velcro (Home Depot & sew to the vest) and snaps (Michaels or other craft-type stores) on any and all pieces. Things shift, things get bumped and honestly, better to be safe with some overkill than sorry and have something happen to a part of your armor you either worked hard on or paid alot for, ya' know?
I'm in the middle now of fastening my armor to the softparts of my BobaMaker suit, and man is it ever nerve-wracking! I should have just paid the extra to have it all done for me. LOL

I'd suggest using velcro without adhesive and sewing them to the fabric in stead though.

I superglue stickyback velcro to the cloth parts and have never had a problem doing that. Just make sure to get the industrial strength stuff.

I like the idea of putting epoxy(havn't tried this yet) or maybe plummer's goop(use and tried, still holding) on the velcro.

Don't use "Amazing Goop", silicone glue, super glue or hot glue, they do not work.

I just started my fett but from experience with other costumes, you can never go wrong with both velcro AND snaps. Both act as a fail safe or catch all if you will for the other. As long as you use Industrial Strength velcro it'll hold pretty good, and also don't go cheap with the snaps... get the heavy duty snaps, not the craft kind.

    Hmmmmmmmm

I am going with the eyelet/bolt attachment (great idea btw) for chest armor since they never really need to come off.

However, are there any good ideas for the back armor (excluding industrial strength velcro and snaps), since it needs to come off to get into the flak vest.

    Hands down, SNAPS.

I just converted all of my armor from VELCRO to snaps. I wish I never used velcro....
