Best Way To Attach Armor?

i probably used 2-3 times as many bolts as necessary, so it shouldn't really have been as hard as it was. once i did it, i couldn't believe i had used velcro for years prior!!

Guys i've glued one half of the snap, with epoxy,to the aluminum armour i've made and it seams to be a good strong joint.Do any of you have a cunning plan as to how to mark out the vest so the snaps all line up?

put a dab of paint onto the end of each snap and GENTLY press it into position on the flak vest. It should leave a spot which will be your guide on where to set the other half of the snap. (y)

Mine currently is velcro... Im having no problems with it but I can forsee the shoulders being a pain... I think in the long run I will switch some pieces to snaps.

is the attachment what i see as the bigges difference of the way the armor hangs?

i see so many people with the armor attached and the edges are pulling off or it looks like its all disheveled. Is that the thickness of the armor?? The material its made with?? Or the way its attached?

It has to do with what the plates are made of as well as how they are attached. the edges pulling off is probably attachment method. that's why bolts (and snaps to an extent) are the better way to go; they hold the plates tighter to the vest. velcro has to much give in it. It tends to pull away and give you a noticable gap between vest and plate.

im lookin to go with the bolts as well, i have FP armor ordered...any suggestions on how to attach the bolts to the ABS? i dont want to use a glue or epoxy that will warp or damage the plastic and be visable on the outside
