    "Best" ROTJ or ESB Blaster

Alright, so I've been going through a bunch of threads trying to determine the best route to go for blasters...

I've heard great things about the Hyperfirm Blasters, but I really want something that feels a bit real, and the Hyperfirm blasters are meant to be lighter correct? I love the detail of the sidewinder kits, but for the ESB i'd have to track down a heiland Flash Tube as his kit doesnt include that. Also he hasn't been on the boards in while

So i don't know I guess I'm just kind of not sure which way to go (i'm still undecided on ROTJ or ESB fett now too!) I really would like the HS bronze cast webley as well, but they seem hard to come buy and expensive.

    Short version:
How do all of the different blasters compare in weight, durability and detail?
    MR?
    MLC?
    TD-4242?
    Sidewinder?
    Hyperfirm?

    1. I had a Sidewinder first, and it was nice... It was a decent weight, not heavy, but had a solid feel.

    2. The MR is definitely out for trooping, and the paint job is terrible. It weighs 10lbs. I thought that 10lbs wasn't much til I held it for a while. I ended up selling it and losing about $100 total cost on it after I took the 'open box' loss from selling at a discount, and it cost $60 to ship it. I'd stay away from it.

    3. I haven't seen a Hyperfirm EE3 in person, but I did hold a Hyperfirm E11, and it was pretty nice. It weighed nothing, and looked pretty good.

    4. There are pics of a MLC in the cargo hold now... Looks great... (never saw in person)

    5. There is a 4242 kit on here that comes with an aluminum bracket. Looks nice. (never saw in person)

    6. Also, Hotshot is making a rubber E33 that is reasonably priced, but isn't out of protoyping yet.

There ya go... Thats about the extent of my blaster knowledge so far. Hope it helps...

Also, if you can't get a flash tube, try using a sink pipe. Thats what folks use for saber parts when they cant get a real, or replica, flash.

that does help out a lot actually. have you decided or yet? I remember buying a ROTJ jumpsuit off of you or maybe you bought it off me, or something like that

I think then that the Sidewinder Kit is still looking like the best option for me as it has a decent weight and great amount of detail. I assume durability is pretty good as well? He hasn't been on the boards for a while though so I don't know how easy it'd be to get a hold of kit.

Anyone got any info on the Hand Schaub bronze casts? This was really my first choice, but who knows if it'll happen

ROTJ... I actually kept switching from Boba to Jango to Boba etc. You probably bought the suit from me. I've had like 3 ROTJ suits so far I think, and I just bought a used SGB suit of ebay... lol... Costuming blows. :P

10 lbs? I held one at Phoenix Cactus Comic Con a few weeks ago. I swear it's nearly 15 lbs. What was astonishing is that Jeremy said the screen used one was about the equivalent weight. It is DEFINITELY not a good option for trooping.

I wouldn't say that the weight rules it out... my blaster weighs about as much as the MR. It took a while to get used to it, but I can hold it out at arm's length long enough for a few photos without shaking now

I have one of the HS Webleys with an aluminum RotJ barrel, and a walnut stock. I love it... The best part is that as the paint chips, it really is metal under there! I'll repaint it now and then, when the chipping gets too bad, but if it gets nicked at an event, no resin shows through.

The HS / Elvistrooper one is on top, and the Hyperfirm is on the bottom.

The total buildup on the bronze one was comparable in price to the MR, though once I get an accurate scope it will have kicked up over the MR price a bit.

The hyperfirms are AWESOME for trooping. Light, and near invincible. But they don't feel real at all, particularly in that you can't look down the scope like a real gun.

Good thing Devilstar2k2 was able to unload this.

I bought it for display though. I have a Hyperfirm for eventual trooping!

Sidewinder kits are fantastic... A good kit to build... I put a little extra work into mine a gave it a working trigger.... Even though the stock D bracket iis reinforced, i'd still like to replace it with an aluminium one sometime... Just to stop that little bit of flex...
