BatNinja's JetPack Progress

I bought an MLC2 from evan4218 about a year ago, and I'm just now getting around to working on it. Some of you may have seen my beacon light tutorial, so here's where the bulk of the rest of the project will go.

First off, I wanted to mount the thrusters and rocket in a unique manner:

Here's a view of the 'T' bar area. This allows me to break down the pack for storage and travel...

"But BatNinja, how is that possible? The PVC bars appear to go through the fiberglassed area of the pack!"

Ah, grasshopper...here is the secret!

I cut out the sides of the PVC tubes so that they could 'circumnavigate' the pack structure.

The only sacrifice was on the outside of the pack, where I hand to sand off the mounting seats for the thrusters, so that I could position the PVC in place. Later, I found out this was more accurate, anyway. Go me!

Very nice, it looks much easier to disassemble than unscrewing everything. (y)

The eye bolts still have nuts for attachment (not shown), but the whole pack can be assembled in under 5 minutes.

I'm still experimenting with different methods of construction, and may end up using Clevis/Cotter pins instead of the eye bolts. More to follow...

Harness pics? Hmm...I'll get right on that!

Is it me or are the horizontal pieces of pipe in the wrong way round according to their markings? L - R  *JK*

Great set up BN..

Not sure how I missed this thread but looks like your JP is coming along well. After seeing your beacon in person, I know what I will be doing to light mine. Great job!

Dude, I don't know who painted your JP, but the color is all wrong. ;)
Just kidding. Pretty ingenius method of setting that all up. Can't wait to see more.

I've got an MLC 1 that I haven't ever attached to my harness because I wasn't sure how I wanted to do the mounting on the inside, but this looks like a very good idea. Any possibility of getting more interior shots, like through the back pointed at where the thrusters attach, and also with the thrusters detached, from the outside into the hole. and any progress pictures you might have. also interested in how the harness will attach through to the outside. Not sure if any of this makes sense, tried to be as descriptive as possible.

Thanks Eric. You always put together some of the best step-by-step/how I did it threads!
