Backplate not sitting flush.....help!!

OK, I just got my BooBoo Fett jetpack harness yesterday, and I installed got the bottom hooks installed on the jetpack and went to get everything together last night. I have WickedBeard armor, including backplate.

When I put the armor over the harness, my backplate sits too far out on my back. It bows out over the curved tube at the top of the harness, and bends just above, where the shoulders attach to the collar armor. It leaves a big bulging bow at the back of the arms that you can see into and see the harness - even with the jetpack attached.

Anyone else run into this issue? It is almost as if I need to beef up the backplate where it is bending, so that it pulls flush with my back all the way up and hold tight against the harness. Anyone have any bright ideas?

I can take pics of what is happening, if it helps. But basically it is just that the armor is pulling the harness up snug to my back, but is rather sitting against the harness and folding in toward my shoulders at the top, just above the top of the harness.

Hey Clint I would post up some pics so people can see what is going on so they can give you some good feedback.

Yeah, I will tonight when I get home. Looking around, it seems that maybe the opening at the bottom of my backplate isn't deep enough to let the harness slide up. Will post some pics later.

The back is a tough piece to get to fit right. Does the back need to curve more to accomodate the harness?

Yes. It does. Wickedbeard puts a foamy material on the inside of the backplate for comfort, but it makes it difficult to shape the armor. And since it is metal, applying heat is useless. I can kind of manipulate it into the right shape, but it just pops right back in place.

I made a nice looking backplate (have a thread here showing it) and it looked much like Wickedbeard's. But when it came to making it sit on my back I had problems. (I'm not the slimmest Fett either... now I have FP's backplate and it has a formfitting curve... It works for me) Anyway...

What if you just lay the jetpack on your back. You might have to make your own harness. Sometimes the weight of the pack can make the backplate rest better against you.

Maybe someone with Wickedbeard armor might chime in with their experience.

I played around with it a little more this afternoon. Sorry, no pics - nobody else was there to get a shot of it while I had it on. The problem seems to be that the backplate is too short altogether. The bottom of the armor won't sit well into the notch behind the bottom brace on the harness. Being too short means that it has to take a really severe angle down. My harness sits kinda low on me, too, though. I need to play around with it and see if I can get it to raise up. I have a Fettdad harness system, too. That might work better until I can get another backplate or figure out what is going on with this one.

Problem solved.....sort of. I guess I should say "Problem found." THe curve on Wickedbeard's backplate isn't exactly conducive to the real harness system. I need a new backplate.

I am not familiar with this harness you are talking about.Any pics of it?If it looks like the one pictured here, no it will not work. The only harness that would work with my backplate would be a standard web harness with the extending loops. This bracket is just too large and bulky to work with my backplate.sorry bro!!
