Hi. Attempting RotJ scratchbuild.

First post on this site! I have been looking at a lot of the threads and you guys have inspired me.
Never done this type before (got 2/3 through a Jango build in 2005 but sold it, can post pics if requested)

Looking to try fiberglassing the WoF templates for helmet and gauntlets.. looks a little rough, but I think I might be able to smooth out after bondo.

DSC02698.jpgtop half of right gauntlet already resined, left still paper :)

Safety officer at work let me dig through the E-waste, and lookie what I found... surprised I didn't find more useful items.. oh well

I have access to a 3D printer.. might use it for some of the piece parts.
Also I want to use the 3mm sintra for armor like I did with Jango way back when.

You all are super helpful! Guidance is appreciated...

...Exhausted, but made good progress.

Applied the resin to the helmet and it cured just fine.
I bondo'ed the right gauntlet and smoothed it out with a second coat. Anyone have any tips on making bondo go on easier and look smoother? I was using a putty knife, didn't work as well as I would have liked.
Anyway I applied resin to the left gauntlet without the fiberglass fabric and it worked like a charm. Any thoughts on why the fabric would be needed?

Will post pics of the progress tomorrow... off to bed...

Here are pictures from last night's progress...

There are a few rough spots on the right gauntlet.. Got some finishing paste and new Dremel attachments..

Might try to do some finishing on these parts tonight, and bondo the bucket!

Sanded the left wrist and smoothed on some spot putty.. looks like it worked pretty good. It is coming along, but still unsure about the helmet.. it seems too small, but I cant tell right now. If it is, I will just give it to my son or someone with a small head :)

The spot putty looks similar to the final color too.. So I can see it starting to come out.

Gonna go wash the bondo dust out of my hair now...

Did some finish sanding with 400 grit on the right gauntlet and drilled holes for the switches and hose in the back. Switches are bigger than they should be, but are good enough..

Also slopped some bondo on the bucket.. Needs some major sanding and probably 3 more coats..:unsure

Probably will work more tonight...lots of sanding to do!
