Attaching Girth Belt

I'm running into a bit of a probelm; I've got my girth belt (it's the centaur mohair one) and it's got the 4 buckles, two per side. I've looked at the back pictures I have of an ESB Fett; I can see there is some kind of strap connecting the two sides, but for the life of me i can't figure out how they are doing it. Can anyone explain how this belt is connected, or even better, post a pic of it?

Thanks!
Charlie

Here's the original on the MoM exhibit:

I used 1" black webbing (after I cut off the buckle pin of one side):

To make the holes, I used a hot soldering iron to punch through the webbing. It cauterizes as it goes through!

Thanks Eric! Great idea with the soldering iron. One more question though (so I can *really* sound like an idiot): how to you buckle it? I get the closed loops on the right side (in your picture). From the looks of the MOM picture, does it just slide under the first metal bar, get held in place, and then the extra strapping tucked under the girth belt? Or does it loop through somehow?

I don't think thats accurate for an ESB. Close, but no cigar. I'll post some better pics for you tomorrow & a short tutorial if I have time, but you can see that the straping has to have the pins through on both ends.
