Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I made an order this last go around -- has anyone else received theirs? Or have you gotten the same "I need to find a new vendor, I'll give you a delay estimate in a week." then, in one week, the "I'll give you a delay estimate in two weeks..." run around?
Please let me know if you ordered from him this go-around and if you've gotten your boots or not.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I haven't received anything yet, but, then again, I was under the impression that we wouldn't be seeing anything until at least January anyway.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Dude, you're going to have to patient for the long haul. I've ordered a pair, I think I got the last set, size 11 :) and I'm just trying to peaceably wait for them to arrive. These can take some time, and while we all can't wait to slip 'em on, it's going to happen.
Custom Fett boots may take longer than you'd like, but once the day arrives, the wait will be forgotten.
:)

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Uh, sorry, dude, but when someone says "It will take 3 months." I say "Okay." and when 3 months pass by, I say "Heya, how are those boots going?" and they say "Oh, I haven't done a thing on them, I'm trying to get a new vendor who can make them EVEN MORE ACCURATE! I'll update you in **ONE WEEK**." Then, in one week, I hear nothing, so I write "Heya, what's up with the update? Any news?" and I get "Oh, I'm trying to get a new vendor who can make them EVEN MORE ACCURATE! I'll update you in *TWO WEEKS**." Gee, deja vu. It REALLY seems like I'm getting the run around to delay my bitching that this order is now a month late and with NO END IN SIGHT.
I know they are top notch boots. THAT is why I AGREED to pay for them. But when I get this type of answer, I worry. That's all.
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Size 11???? Geez, Rex. Yours are gonna take longer while they make more fabric! Kidding, buddy. I've got lil girly feet :lol :lol . Wait....that's not really that funny is it? :( :o
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I think every run MC has done has had some sort of delay that was out of his hands and people always get freaked out, BUT he has always delivered, as far as I know, including my own. I'm 100% sure you will get them as soon as he can get them to you. :)

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
You also got to remember, he's mass producing a lot of boots here. An item that is VERY difficult to make. I'm all for trying to keep deadlines, and I'm all for keeping people posted. But, sometimes s**t happens.
He's always delivered, he's staying in contact . . . we're not buying Nike's from Walmart. These are getting custom made for us. I'd love to have had my boots 3 months ago too but . . . I can feel his pain in everything I'm going through getting my gauntlet darts made. :)

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Well, guys, I've made plenty of shoes and moccasins for another hobby, and can only say that a large order will take time. It's hard enough when it's just for you, but dealing with alot of different sizes must be even more involved. Maybe "the maker" is having setbacks, maybe he could tell you guys more, maybe it's out of his hands, maybe alot of things. From what I've read in the archives here, he puts out primo stuff. All feedback has been positive. Guess it's a matter of waiting for those great boots. :)
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I REALLY have to wonder though, if he's done runs this many times (and I KNOW he's done tons of runs), why is he giving me a totally BUNK ETA on them? Why not say "This one is gonna take a lot longer, maybe 4-5 months." or "Hey, my 3 months are up, but I will need one more."
I can't even get the guy to tell me what the true delay is going to be! That's all I want!!

-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
That's an honest request alright. But it doesn't look like you're the onliest one. I'm sure it'll all work out. Sounds like he said it'd be at least January anyway. I wish I would have ordered some too. Then I'd be waiting along with you. Sadly, I didn't have the play money then either. :(
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I just want to clear things up so it doesn't look like I'm being impatient here.
I ordered in SEPTEMBER (the beginning of the month) with the 3 month quote. So my boots should have been to me by the beginning of DECEMBER. I asked him about it on the exact 3 month date, and it's now the end of the month with no answers...other people may have been quoted January, but not me.

GhOstDevil....
Trust me, MC will deliver as promised. I have a pair of his boots and **** are they sweet!!! Trust me, just be patient and give him a chance to get back to you. Trust me, these things are sooo worth waiting for...just ask anyone who has them.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I had a chance to check them out at C2. Long before he decided to do one last run. Needless to say I wet my pants when the opportunity arouse. I received an email maybe two or three weeks ago from him and he was expecting a month or so delay (maybe more). His original boot maker relocated. Remember its been some time I guess since hes done this boot. And he was finishing up the details with the new maker. Yes it would be nice to have them now, to hold, admire and droll over. But wait patiently I will just as I did for my MB stuff. And worth the wait it will be. It amazes me how people are so quick to bash and get their undies in a bind about the people who are helping us create our childhood dream (or at least those my age that have comented on past threads).
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Undies in a bind? What pisses me off is that on boards like this (and the RPF) one person makes ONE sale and takes a little too long, and 18 million people jump all over them. THEN, a known dealer of boots takes an entire MONTH to say he can't give me an estimate on the delay, and everyone's like "Gee, but the product is sooo good."
Can you spell "D-O-U-B-L-E S-T-A-N-D-A-R-D"???
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
can u say "CHENG HAS A NORMAL LIFE AS WELL?", everyone on this board, that im aware of have a normal working life as well, he has to do this in his free time, and u should stop pissin and moanin. He WILL get them here...and i know everyone is sayin this, but HE HAS ALWAYS DELIVERED!!! and when it gets to you, u will be very happy...
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
For someone who uses "u" instead of you, your words ring hollow.
I never forced a delivery date on him -- HE GAVE IT TO ME. If you can't meet a delivery date, DON'T GIVE ONE.
And if you're going to simply tell me "Don't werry, he will delivur. Ur just too impashunt." ... well, dont.
If your "normal life" (which, yes, I realize everyone has) is too busy to deliver items on time, either STOP doing these runs, or be more realistic with the estimate delivery date.
Oh, and Mark has contacted me and we're working things out, so as much as I'd love to solicit more of these wonderful "U R being 2 impatient" posts, don't bother anymore. =)
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Somehow by your last statement, I guess you're over it then?? I've been waiting too....for two pairs, but Mark has a good...no, great...history here with these boots, so I really don't mind waiting longer than usual, whatever 'usual' is. Im just happy I was able to get an order in this round.....THANKS MARK!!!
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Does any one know if MC does fett boot runs Periodically, or is this latest run that you guys are waiting for his very very last boot run "forever"..... I hope not or Im gonna have to pay an arm and a leg to get a pair for myself.........
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Well, TA, if you DID pay an arm and a leg, the boots would be half-price. You would only need one.
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
haha, very true very true.......
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
The impression I got was that these might be IT. It seemed difficult to scrape the list of, what, 25 or so interested parties at what comparatively is a pretty stiff price. I don't speak for MC but I would assume that if he makes them again it won't be until another list of similarly committed buyers can be assembled.
I'm glad I have mine already *phew*

-BobaFettish enters the room and clears his throat-
Are we having problems playing nicely again, boys? :doh I was trying to refrain from jumping in on this topic, but tempers are starting to flare. I won't speak for MC or make excuses for any delays he may be experiencing. He is a TDH member, and he can post that info here if he chooses. I would like everyone to refrain from letting their frustrations cause them to garner a bad reputation here. Other prop makers read these threads and quickly decide who they won't sell to so they can avoid this type of attention in the event they miss a deadline too. Comprende'?
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I am not going to jump on any body's side here but i understand where ghostdevil is coming from. i also am very impatient.( RA can attest to that ) One thing i have learned in my life is simply this if you are making something and realistically it will take four weeks you tell the consumer six weeks that way if its done in four he/she is extra happy if it takes more your safe. "but that's just my opinion i could be wrong"
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Well first of all, I'll ignore the ***-for-tat that LOBH is trying to start and instead focus on two other things said:
1)I'm not garnering a bad reputation. I'm the FIRST one to post about how much I appreciate good service (see my post on RPF re: my MB jet pack which I got very quickly, and loved. I think it's a bit silly to say just because I am bitching about a month without any word from a vendor, I'm garnering a bad reputation.
2)No one is "doing this for me". I PAID the man 200 dollars. If he freely GAVE me the boots I wouldn't say word one -- I never look a gifthorse in the mouth. But this isn't some sort of freebie -- I paid for 3 month turnaround, I should GET 3 month turnaround, regardless of him, me, you, etc.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
There have been very strong points made here by the varying "factions". It appears as though gd's only beef is about the time frame involved being different than what he was initially quoted. He doesn't make an issue of price, quality or anything else. Seems agreeable to all that. However, there is a perceived hostility nevertheless(One only need look as far as the title). Let's not fall to biting each other like starving dogs in a frenzy. We're all on the same side in this hobby. It looks as though there will be a bit of a wait, no matter how frustrating it may be. Let's not keep poking this with a stick, shall we?

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
First of all I like to apologize to everyone for the lack of updates.
GhostDevil has every right to be upset. I am not delivering as promised. I said it would take 3 months and it's taken longer. I did take some orders in September. According to my words it should have been in his hands by now.
Here is the current situation.
The boots ideally take 3 months to make if no one flakes and I make the appropriate steps to make payment on time.
The boots cost so much to make that I can't afford to do it in one step. I need to do it in two payments.
That's no excuse for keeping you guys in the dark though.
That is why it is difficult to do these. I don't get enough customers to merit a batch. I have to get them made in large batches. The factory I use to deal with didn't wan to put my boots on top priority because they deal with shoes in the 1,000's I only did them at 100 at a time. I couldn't afford to do more and that was the minimum I had to order them. I can't do 50 pairs here and there. I don't get a real date of arrival from the vendor until I a month and a half into when I sart the batch. Then they wait for me to make the second payment. I try to have the second payment by the time they contact me, but sometimes it's very difficult. A lot of folks flake and I end up working overtime to make ends meet. Vendor doesn't ship me the boots until I get that second payment in.
Because of the difficulty this will most likely be my last batch.
The main hickup in this latest batch is that I haven't ordered a new batch in such a long time that my vendor switched factories on me. The vendor didn't know that factory wouldn't be able to make the boot anymore until they got no reply from them. So the hunted out a new factory which required me to resend a sample boot. I had difficulty finding a sample boot, because I don't have a pair on hand. I thought everything would be straigten out before the 3 months deadline, but it didn't happen. The new factory maybe able to make the changes I couldn't get from the old factory though. I will probably have pictures of the new boot in two weeks hopefully with also a more definate date of arrival. Because my vendor was late in informing me of the factory change they will make it a priority to get the batch done ASAP. To be honest I really don't know what that means yet. No date until two weeks from now hopefully. I will have a more definate date when the new sample boot is sent.
I am very sorry to all who have waited so long. I'm am going to make a greater effort to reorganize and streamline the process. Because of the difficulty I don't think I will be able to do the bouny hunter boots in a timely fashion anymore.
I thank you all very much for your patience. I will e-mail all in two weeks when I get word.
Thank you and have a good New Year,
Mark Cheng

Back to our regularly scheduled program...
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Were these boots something you had to have signed up for beforehand, or is it possible for me to acquire a pair at this late date? I'm sorry...I would have placed an order back in--what was it, September, October?--but I just decided to make a costume in December. I've heard very good things about these boots, though. It'd kill me to know that this was my last chance and I missed it.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Factions? FACTIONS?!? HOLY ****! First it was the invention of the stupid "Team Whatever" and now we have "factions"?!? Are we this desperate to find ways to divide ourselves up and rip ourselves asunder? What the hell is going on here?!?
Last I looked we still have a LOT of unresolved Fett issues and a lot of research left to do. Anyone have a perfect suit yet or have ALL the answers? I sure as hell know I don't.
Seems in the past few months we have somewhat lost sight of the fact that we are ALL on the same team (yes, even the Zam enthusiasts) and that we are all working towards the same goal. Let's put some of the more petty differences aside, stop rehashing things that have been talked to death and start moving forward! Now who wants to sit around and ***** and fight and who wants to get this show on the road again and be a part of something productive?
Please note: My ranting has nothing to do with MC's timely shipping or lack there of but in how the members of the forum have begun to treat each other. State your point and move on. There is nothing to be gained from taking such aggresive stands except hurt feeling and resentment.
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Sorry, Brak's. "Factions" was my word, as I couldn't think of a less divisive term. Blame me for that one. Thanks for saying bluntly what many of us were thinking.
EDIT; And "factions" only referred to the stance on the footwear schedule. In no way did it reflect on "teams", which I believe is a healthy, and harmless, distraction which leads each costumer into improving their outfit.
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
I'm not sure what the teams had to do with this, it was something that I came up with as a joke that most of us all had fun with??
I hope that MegalomaniacalMandalores edit helps clear that up?? Thanks man...
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
MM, not jumping on you in particular. It just seems that things have really begun to degenerate when it comes to any thread in which there is a disagreement. Instead of discussing things it seems that people are more interested in discreditting each other's opinion.
WPK, the "teams" joke started off innocently enough but it has grown into a fiasco that seems to be brought up in almost every post! I personally have seen it go from good clean fun to nasty and biting remarks. Just seems like a lot of effort is wasted on trying to prove something that doesn't need proving. The fact of the matter is that no Fett is better than another and I am sure you all know that. However there continue to be post after post going on and on about how ESB Fett sucks because of his drab colors or how RotJ Fett is dorky because of his circus colored jet pack or how Jango is lame because he just stood there while a Jedi beheaded him. It just gets very old and is pointless. Yes, I am ranting. I know. I just would love to see the unending energy expended in those posts refocused on our goal of creating the ultimate Fett suit. If we spent as much time, as a board, trying to complete our suits as we do trying to tell everyone else why their particular flavor of Fett sucks, LFL would be asking to hire us all for Ep 2.5, the Return of the Mandalore... ;)
tteF aboB, I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. Please PM me with more details.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Me, I'm just looking forward to my pair of MC size 11 Boba Fett boots.

I think TtefAbob is talking about the new super accurate 'mystery' gauntlets that have surfaced slowly and discreetly in the past month.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
When some one tries to get something for others people should be happy they are trying. In this hobbies it takes time. Some get all mad and pissy because the paid some money and then it takes longer. Just be happy that the person is there to help, If you want it faster make it yourself. This is a hobby NOT a company and people need to realize that. Just because people take money does not mean they are a company. Treat them like the person they are. Companies have the money to get large orders and have customers service centers to deal with problems. When you are dealing with a member most of the time that person has to do EVERYTHING..emails, keep track of who's paid, who has not, make or contact the place for the item, buy materials, pack and ship, answer questions, have a job to pay for living- have a life. It just makes me mad how people do treat others when if we all could be face to face at least once a week it would be different. Remember we all share one thing in common here we Love star wars...
Lets not forget that and take a deep breath and treat everyone like the brother or sister they are.
-
Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Megatron -- so where do you draw the line? 1 Month late? 2 Months late? 3 months late? Do you just willingly give your money to people, and just say "weehoo, there's my 200 bucks, just send it when you want to." and then you can be really surprised when it comes? I can't play that way. I won't.
If someone says "You'll have boots in 3 months." Then they should be able to back it up. OR in 3 months, if the boots aren't done, say "Eep. No boots. Give me 1 more month." Or something to that effect. Don't ignore customers, or tell them you'll update them in 1 week, and then not send them anything. That's what happened to me.
If you say 3 months, and you find out it takes longer, don't say 3 months, say 4 months. Or 5. Whatever. But if I have my plans set for 5 months, and they come in 4 months, I'd be happier than a pig in poo.
It's all about TIME MANAGEMENT. People in business are taught that when giving a deadline, or approximating a delivery date, ADD 1/5th - 1/3rd the time on to it, just to give yourself a leeway. Then, if you need the extra time, due to a screw up, you look clean, because no one knew the difference. If, however, you come in on time (or what your customers think is EARLY), you look like golden sunshine.
It is a hobby, yes. But that is no excuse for cruddy business practices. I'm not saying Mark or anyone else has them (although I know some people do), I'm just saying there are ALOT of apologists around here who think they can just tell us (who paid but didn't get their stuff) to shut up because "We're all brothers and this is just a hobby."
I assure you, any time 200 dollars is involved, it stops being a hobby, and for a short time becomes a business.
So let's act like adults and do business well. Vendors, give yourselves some extra time to complete projects. COMMUNICATE to buyers, even if just to say "Sorry, nothing today, will let you know ASAP...", etc.

am waiting to for the boots too..and this in not a business so those rules will NEVER apply...all you had to do was ask him with an email after two weeks, since you did not get a reply. That is all I did. He has no control over the factory..he has to wait on them. I spent more money then $200 and have waited longer. We are lucky he ever even start this. He did not have to and it looks like no one else has. Why do you think so many people do not ever try to do this? He wants to send them now but if he doesn't have them then he can't send the can he.
ITs a hobby nothing more..they are things- nothing more..
enjoy life and be happy that you have the chance to any of these things and be able to do them...You will get your boots like of us waitting also.
This thread should be dump since its not helping anyone.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
Not for nothing but when money is paid for a product or service... IT'S BUSINESS. Hobby or no hobby. Wasn't this arugement settled a while ago? I thought that MC came here admitted to and apologized for his lack of communication.

Exactly my point, webchief. Money = business.
And yes, this thread can be locked down, deleted, whatever. I've been told by MC he'll give me more updates soon. Haven't heard anything from him since his last post here, but...*shrug* Not alot I can do about it at this point.

Re: Anyone else pissed about lack of MC boots??
when it comes to business we can all take a note from Scotty (of *gasp* Star Trek)
Geordi: "I told the Capt. I'd have this done in six hours."
Scotty: (conspiratorially) "How long would it really take ya?
Geordi: "Six hours."
Scotty: (horrified) "aww man, ya din'a tell him how long it would REALLY take ya?" "How can ya expect to be thought of...as a MIRACLE worker, if ya tell him how long it would REALLY take ya?"
So I do have to support Ghostdevil on this one, hell even Mark chimed in on his behalf! Hobby or not if someone sends you money, any amount really, you should take the time to let them know if a deadline won't be met. Regardless of who's fault that missed deadline is. And it's not a matter of sending countless emails to all interested parties. Just send out a notice to everyone at once. FYI these will be awhile longer and it will be out of my hands.
And of course, pad your deadline to cover yourself.
