General 3D Printed Replica of 6051 Mini Light in the Works

I got a package in the mail today with the mini light pieces.

There are some visible print lines but can be taken out with a little sanding & a nice coat of clear after being smoothed to give it a shiny finish.

Have to make some modifications for fits, I engineered in some clearances & shouldn't have done that at all. Have to revise the switch which was made of a harder acrylic plastic in order to get the "Ever Ready" to print. The portion that snaps into the body was too brittle & broke which I was concerned about. I have come up with a plan & am doing some redesign that won't detract from the look but work much better without breaking. I am making mods & will be getting another printed but while that is happening I am going to work on getting the internal portion working.

LED or accurate incandescent light?

Things have stalled on this project as well as others I have been working on.

Broke my ankle & have to have surgery next week for reconstruction. Have to be off my feet. Bums me out I can't work on anything.

Plan to finish this when I am back on my feet.

Ah man sucks about your ankle! Heal up well brother....we'll be here when your up n running again!

Question, when you have a chance, do you think the switch will fit in a real one? Mine is missing the switch. I have a 6050, in my gauntlet, with a switch I can put in my 6051 to make it complete, but then I'd need a switch for the 6050 I'm using in my gaunt. I don't mind that one having a replica switch. I figured if it's a full replica I should be able to use it no?

I'm in no rush so just LMK when you can...thanks!

i agree with Keegan...incandescent....BUT if it's possible to make a version for both, I think it would be a good idea. The LED has some advantages, but technically isn't correct. I may be making WAY too much work for you tool guy, I have little clue how much goes into a modification like that digitally, but if possible, I think both options would work out for you and us. If you only do one version...I say incandescent all the way.

Thanks guys. It sucks being off work and not being able to do anything, even though I want to but my wife is really on me about following doctors orders.

I was leaning towards the incandescent but I like some of the advantages of the LED. I am thinking of doing a version of both.

DV, I don't see why the switch wouldn't work. If you could let me know what the actual slot width is & the thickness in that area I could make adjustments to what I have come up with in order to have a replica replacement. I have 2 ideas for the switch that I had been working on to improve from the original to make it more flexible.
