I will be counting on your kind support throughout for advice, pointers and sourcing tips for armour, accessories and helmet especially with a view to obtaining these in Japan. I hope to gather as much information as possible on these forums and post progress of my build when I start so I can get some feedback and advice.

I was originally directed this way by a few members of the 501st, so I could learn how to create my own armor. I've spoken to Asok, who I find very helpful, and decided that lurking wasn't the best way to behave. I have decided that this would be best course of action, and it would be much easier to ask my costume/Fett questions in person to ya'll.

I hope to become a very active and helpful member of your boards. I was very hesitant to join, or even attempt to make my own armor at first. I have always designed costumes/characters/etc... but have never taken that first step to actually creating anything. I want to thank all of the members here who inspired me to do so.

Having been a huge Star Wars fan since I saw my first movie in the late 70's, I decided it was time I do something I've always wanted, My first Boba Fett. I saved up for ages and did a lot of research on the net and ended up getting most of my gear from BobaMaker. I painted it and tried to get it to look just right but, then I decided, maybe I could be a little different. And because I wanted my armour to last so that maybe I could pass it on to my son (even if he is only two..) I decided to put a few coats of Twaron and 6K Carbon around the armour, making it slightly stronger. I'll try to post some pics in the future. I haven't done the helmet yet and it's making me a bit nervous cos I reallllly don't want to mess it up. So at the moment lets just say the breast and ab plates are quite strong, and it looks good too, so I'm not sure if I should paint again or not.Maybe I'll let that go for a vote later on. And the only other problem with living here in Townsville is that it's very hot and humid most of the year round. But that's another story. I look forward to having some pics for you all soon, and I've already seen some amazing work from you guys, and girls. And don't forget, with out us Geeks, Nerds and Fans, life would be sooo boring! Well, at least it's a start.

I guess I'll begin with why I'm here, and if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them!

For many years it's been a dream of mine to get my hands on a quality Boba Fett costume for cosplaying at local conventions, and general frolicking around to express my love of the character to the world. I'd like to point out that, like many others who have come here in the past, there are a few obstacles in my way. The biggest obstacle I face is being a thin lady and a meagre 5'6" without the help of heels. The second biggest obstacle is that I haven't got any funds right now to go forking over $2000 for a fully completed costume.

I'm sure you can imagine my excitement coming across the Rubies' Deluxe for $600 -$800! It seemed almost too good to be true, and of course; it was. After doing my research I discovered that it could very well be cheaper (and less of a headache) to attempt gathering bits and bobs of the costume from thrift-shops and repainting a Jango Fett helmet than dealing with the sub-par Rubies'. I'm just in need of some guidance. Mostly for the helmet, but also regarding hiding the fact that I'm a lady in a Boba Fett costume. We're all trying to be as authentic as possible, right?

You wonderful folk seem to have been through this before, and are more-than-helpful with the others who come here in search of assistance. I guess chose the name HeadHunter because the thing I'm looking for primarily is the helmet. It's a Bucket for my Bucket List. The rest I try to figure out on my own, for the most part, but the helmet needs to be perfect.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...

I just got home from teaching martial arts at Fanime Con in San Jose, CA. While there, I met a scout trooper from the 501st, and I finally thought to talk to someone (him) about his costume and how he made it. After chatting for a bit, I admitted that my interest wasn't in troppers, but rather Fett/Mandalorians. He directed to this site, saying it was the best resource for getting in touch with fellow enthusiasts and costumers.

I'm going to start browsing through these forums, but to let you know where I'm at... I'm at square zero. I have never done any costuming of any kind, and am not even sure if I have the skill set to make my own (though I'd love to learn). It would be great to chat with some of you to see where is the best place to start, and to even help me get an idea of what I'm getting into (budget, time commitment, skills & tools required, etc). My biggest interest is in doing a custom Mandalorian, but I do love classic Fett. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on which I should started with. Should I buy all the armor pieces and customize them, or should I make my own? Also hearing what people's experiences are with custom Mandalorians would be great (colors or color schemes that seemed cool but didn't work, custom gadgets or armor, etc).

To give you a little more background on me... I live in San Diego and work full time as a personal banker. I am also going to school to get my Bachelors in Criminal Justice, with the goal of making a career change into law enforcement. In my spare time I: practice Krav Maga, practice & teach 16th century European weapon styles, target shoot with my recurve bow, game on my PC, read, go to the beach, and spend time with my fiance.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here, and chatting with you all to get the ball rolling on an awesome costume!

I have two large projects I'm working on:

creating my own set of beskar'gam for the mandalorian mercs
creating a full line of every clonetrooper helmet variant

I'm well on my way with my beskar'gam and am currently working on building a Z-6 style jet pack (just finished resin and planning to post WIP thread shortly)

my second project is far more extensive, ambitious, and possibly suicidal. My plan is to create every single clonetrooper helmet variant (excluding a few animated series ones) that has seen screen time. I'm planning on doing them out of pepakura/resin/rondo/bondo.
