Psicorp7 - New ESB Boba Fett Build - 501st is the Goal - It may take a while!

All right!

I know Boba Fett builds are all around and I am sure I am not breaking any new ground with this one but I want to put this build up here and on...

All right!

I know Boba Fett builds are all around and I am sure I am not breaking any new ground with this one but I want to put this build up here and on the RPF to make use of the wide array of knowledge out there. I know I will miss things and images and I hope you folks can catch me before I fall too far!

I have attached the photos of the pile of stuff I have gathered so far.

JetPack - MOW
Gauntlets - MOW
Boots - MOW
Back - Don't remember?
Chest/Cod/Shoulders - swprops (not the greatest but not the worst)
Shin tools - eBay
Pistol/holster - eBay
Chest numerals - esb sequence - UK seller
Jumpsuit - MOW
ESB Vest - MOW
Knees - Vacuum formed - eBay
Helmet - ?? (got it for $60 and now I am pretty sure it is a recast POS)
I consider this to be my "practice" helmet for the ESB paint scheme
EE-3 Blaster - Webley Flare Gun cast - not much else right now
Cape - eBay

The goal would be to make this a wearable, 501st approved costume. I know it will take a while and I will end up replacing a number of pieces as I upgrade. Wish me luck and I will ask more than a few questions!

Question #1

I have to dye the MOW jumpsuit and I am leaning towards the RIT royal blue but I am not positive. What have any of you used for for dye colors for ESB?

- - - Updated - - -

Just a quick additional note.

I thought I would show the two previous Boba Fett's I built.
These were done in 1998 and 2000. They were ok for the material I had at the time (sintra) and the fact there were done on the living room floor of my apartment.

I am still rather proud of the sintra jetpack on the ROTJ second suit. I did all the patterns and built it from only looking at the photos available at the time.

I am very happy to share, my COMPLETED helmet!!! Well the outside and electronic parts, I have to add some foam padding and a chin strap, but everything else is done. It has a remote range finder along with blinking LED lights. The range finder is a bit larger then most, but that is what I had to do to accommodate the LED board. Anyway, I would not have been able to accomplish this without the help of the board, so thank everyone for the tutorials and help!

Hi Everyone,

Over the last several months I've been working on a few new projects in tandem with normal business and catching up the last of my older orders. One of those projects is the upcoming FPH2 (announcement forthcoming very soon).

One of the byproducts of this 'particular' project was sourcing aluminum rangefinder stalks. I've tested several variances with my machinist to get it pinned down to what I'd like to include with my newest helmet kits. Such as type of process (waterjet vs. laser cut vs. cnc) and a few minor tweaks here and there to design. Which left an excess of stock.

So, I am offering 25 of the 'waterjet' cut versions to the community as a discount service. I've decided to go CNC for the final FPH2 pieces.

These stalks are the basic solid style. Very similar to Asok's stalks (which were based on my stalks). They will require minor finish sanding (this is simply the nature of jet cutting) and drilling for your own mounting studs.

They will fit any past FP variant helmet (MSH, MSH2, FPH, Budget MR, MR premium, ect.) The GMH isn't a 'perfect' fit as Asok illustrates in his GMH thread but with minor tweaking as he did will do the job. No guaranteed fitment for anything else. But they are all 'relatively' close these days I do believe. Use your own discretion.

These budget stalks are $12 shipped anywhere in the lower 48.
and are in stock and ready to ship within 24 hours of payment to be fair. They will be shipped in padded envelopes using first class service.

PayPal payments are first come first serve until they are gone. I will update the thread every so often with how many are left but probably a good idea for everyone if you post your dibs so ppl can get an idea of the stock left between my precise updates.

Recap :

Budget waterjet cut RF stalks. $12 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states U.S. (international is $5-$7 depending on location so contact me prior to payment).
Cheers

Terminal Fettler RF light kit questions

For those of you that didn't know, I have a sale thread in the cargo hold for a Asok RF compatible light kit. I also have in that thread a prototype light kit for the TF RF. My question is what would the majority of you (TDHers) want for that kit. Is it imperative to have the clear section of the RF to light up, or would the 2 flashing red LEDs be enough? I am asking this because of the issues with the grain of wheat bulbs that were used in the movie helmet. The tilt switch I use isn't rated for the current that those bulbs pull, and I haven't really decided on what I could use as a replacement for the light bulbs. While I could use them with the Honeywell micro switch that was used on the real helm, that brings up the issue of installation of the switch; the helmet might need modding as well as where to mount the helmet battery pack and the wire need to make the circuit.
While the Honeywell switch and GOW bulbs would make a very accurate replica circuit, I feel that to make it the best possible, I would have to do all of the work myself(mod the helmet and run the wires). I am going to try it on my own extra helmet to see if it is even plausible in a month or two.
if a circuit that just flashes the LEDs is enough, then I will be able to offer them for sale fairly quickly(a month or so). If the consensus if light up everything, I will have to go back to the drawing board.
Would fiber optics or other LEDs for the clear section instead of the GOW bulbs be sufficient?
Post below and let me know what you think.
Thanks,
